Dynamic, Flowing and Powerfully Effective
Bryan Kest Power Yoga is a fun, dynamic and challenging series of postures which can give dramatic results.
A few years ago I met a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. Although he had done yoga for some time he had a tendency to get a bit overweight and could balloon pretty fast.
I hardly recognized him when I saw him. The kilos had fallen away, I could see from his t-shirt that he had some serious definition, and he walked with much more confidence.
“What have you been doing?” I asked. “Bryan Kest Power Yoga,” was the reply. He got his laptop out, grabbed a dvd from the case and hit play. I was intrigued.
So I bought my own copy of Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga dvd which had three classes on it and to this day it’s one of my favorites.
It has it’s foundation in Ashtanga yoga but what really makes it stand out is the philosophy and teaching style of Kest himself.
He’s not interested in feeding your ego and having you focus on your body. The main target of Power Yoga is to have a calm mind and to appreciate your body and world exactly as it is in the moment you are aware.
In this respect Kest is much more in-step with the true goals of yoga and in many respects the asanas are simply the means to achieve an increase in awareness, acceptance and contentment.
So, from my perspective, I give a big thumbs up to this style. You can check out the man’s schedule on his website, or if you fancy some inspiration then get a copy of his dvd, Power Yoga Complete Collection from amazon.com
